Northern Ireland

Little wonder that Northern Ireland has become the movie location destination par excellance due to its stunning coastal scenery, brooding boglands crumbling castles and windsweft cliffs. Add Belfast’s Victorian architecture, The Giant’s causeway (UNESCO World Heritage Site) the fact that Belfast’s Titanic experience won the Best in Europe accolade in 2017, and you know you’ve got to visit.

Southeast

The “Sunny South East”, officially the driest part of Ireland, offers everything from prehistoric tombs to Early Christian Crosses and Round Towers, to Medieval Castles and Cathedrals one of the oldest operating lighthouses in the world. Whether you ,want to explore a march of museums, a grandiosity of operas or a huddle of historic houses or simply feast on fine food, discover dolmens or storm the beaches, the counties of Wexford, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny and South Tipperary have all these and more.

Southwest

With 5 peninsulas jetting into the Atlantic, each has something different to offer. The Ring of Kerry is the Grand Dame of Touring Routes in Ireland and has a combination of coastal route, lush sub-tropical indigenous forest, mountainous areas with boglands. Highlights included the Killarney National Park with its lakes, mountains historic houses, waterfalls, castles, cashels and majestic views. It really does have it all and it’s no wonder that the first speaking movies filmed outdoors were filmed here in the early 20thCentury.

West

The west of Ireland is a land of wild beauty, where the rugged landscapes , peatlands, mountains, lakes and rivers of Connemara meet the crashing Atlantic waves. Explore Kylemore Abbey, an Irish Taj Mahal , cruise along the Killary Fjord, and its mussel farms Thatched cottages and nonchalant sheep line the narrow roads while further to the north, majestic scenery awaits in Co. Mayo, recent home to award winning actors and basking sharks. At the heart of it all is vibrant Galway City, where medieval streets pulse with music, culture, and a warm Irish welcome.

What Jessie’s travellers say

Whether on Google Reviews, Trip Advisor or Tour HQ, clients have had nothing but good to say of their experience with Jessie, both as a guide and as a driver-guide. See for yourself!
So happy we chose Jessie as our guide. We initially were booked for an Aran Island/Cliffs of Moher trip, however, when weather took a bad turn Jessie was quick to ask for our interest and created a whole new itinerary. She had a wealth of knowledge and shared all sorts of fun facts and wonderful historical information about Ireland. We were entertained every step of the way. She also gave us good tips regarding the rest of our journey. We feel certainly fortunate to have spent the day with Jessie and would definitely book again.

Our guide, Jessie McDonald, was every thing a guide should be- knowledgeable, friendly, flexible and a superb driver. She took us on roads I wouldn’t want to have driven- up steep mountain passes so narrow the only way to get past an oncoming vehicle was to meet where there was a bit of grass on each side. She modified our itinerary to add places we were interested in and was flexible as possible with our times at the different stops. We started our trip with a few days on our own in Dublin, then began our tour across most of the Republic. On a side note, try the Mussels, they are delicious!

Jessie gave us a very interesting and thorough tour of the history and stories of spike Island. She highlighted some significant remake figures who’d featured in stories that the signs around the place didn’t really highlight, and was a very dynamic story teller. She was excellent! The island was really pretty and also fascinating. Great half-day trip.

Just spent the last 12 days (March 4 -16, 2022) with Jessie on a wonderful tour through Ireland and Scotland. I want to give her my highest possible recommendation. This was a “bucket list” trip for my me and my daughter. Jessie did an excellent job covering the history, handling all the issues and making sure 32 people had a wonderful personal experience. Big thank you to Jessie for providing an exceptional experience!

I would 100% recommend Spike Island to anyone visiting Cork. We had an amazing tour guide (Jessie) who was very captivating, interesting and funny. We were given a detailed description of the history of Spike Island and there was plenty to see on the island. The views were fabulous and the museum was very informative. We were even given access to the prison records and we were free to do some research! Although upon arrival we were concerned as to whether the tour would be suitable for the full family, we discovered there was even a fairy trail available for younger children to follow. Overall, we had a great time and I would definitely say Spike Island was one of the highlights from my visit to Cork!

Our guide Jessie was not just full of all sorts of information, but had a wonderful sense of humour and was almost begging for questions. The PERFECT tour guide. I would love to have her take me around Cork City. My home town, but I bet I don’t know a tenth of what she does. Thank you Jessie!!!
